Wigton Motor Club Lake District Classic and Targa Rally

Once again we were marshaling on this great event and to avoid an early start we'd traveled over on Saturday and spent the night in the Acorn Guest House in Penrith.

We were surprised to find that one of the competing teams from Durham Auto Club were also staying there. We had a good chat over a hearty breakfast before we headed off to our section, Bridge which we had been to last year.

Arriving in plenty of time we had a chance for a good catch up with Steve & Judith who were section controllers before heading up the hill to our positions. I managed to get the video cameras set up before the first car arrived.

The reverse stop astride once again caught a few out and gained them some penalty points.

We also got a few good stills of the action.

This was the only test we had this year. Quarry, the one we normally do in the afternoon wasn't on this year which is  a shame because it was a great test.

Once the closing car has been we packed up the cones and headed for the finish which was at Penrith Rugby Club where we were provided with a meal. Unlike the truck stop in previous years, there were no tests here so we mingled and chatted to competitors and organisers.

As things started to wind down we set off for home. We thought about taking the scenic route through Alston but decided to take the quick dash across the A66.

It was a great day out. The weather was kind and everybody we spoke to was happy.
