I took it to John Nelson in Stockton and he did a great job. The car is running really well now and I'm a happy bunny. John commented on how nice the car was to drive which is gratifying. I know it's good to drive but independent confirmation is nice to have.
There are still a few jobs to do on the BGT but nothing that will stop us using it.
The TA is just about done now. I changed the cylinder head gasket and the oil & filter and it's now running well.
Last year the speedo packed up. Investigation revealed that the problem lies with the drive in the gearbox. I spent half an hour under the car trying to remove the drive before deciding that it's not doable with the gearbox in the car. Gearbox removal is not in my immediate plans, or any plan really, so I'll be fitting a GPS speedo when it arrives. It's not original but neither is a lot of old Numbum. 'Whatever works' is a good manta to me.
I still want to do a shakedown run before the season starts in earnest
