Our route with the BGT was roughly Richmond - Leyburn - West Witton - Kettlewell - Skipton - Colne- Trawden - Widdop - Todmorden - Littlebrough - Ripponden - Greenfield - Holmfirth - Holmfirth - Holmfirth - Glossop - Chapel on le Frith - Buxton - Bakewell.
No, it's not a mistake that Holmfirth is mentioned three times. Lack of road signs had us travelling in the wrong direction a couple of times and we had to retrace our steps. No wonder Compo was a bit off the wall. it was enough to drive anybody nuts.
Some of the roads were narrow and twisty and it was bad luck that we got stuck behind some slowcoaches for about quite a few miles which held us up. We also came across this small herd of highland cattle in the road. Thankfully we got through without any damage to them or the car.
We eventually arrived at our cottage at about 7 1/2 hours after we set off. A long day so we just dumped the bags and went to a pub for food.
