This was the first run of the year for old Numbum, apart from a couple of runs round the block. We met the other members of the Tees Valley MG Owners Club at Yarm Station for what turned out to be a delightful run to Ampleforth Abbey.
We were promised a ford with a good depth of water to run though, but due to navigational problems we missed it. We managed to catch up with everybody having a break at the top of Sutton Bank. They had climbed Sutton Bank but our detour meant we missed that as well.
We all arrived at Ampleforth in bright warm sunshine and while the wealthy headed off to the tea rooms for lunch, we had a picnic in the sunshine.
After a wander round the grounds we met up with others for a short chat before setting off for home.
