Lakeland Museum & Campbell Exhibition

While we were in the Lake District we decided to drive down the Lake to the Lakeside Motor Museum and Campbell Exhibition.

The museum was excellent. We were surprised to find that we'd been in there for four hours and it didn't seem like it.  Loads of stuff to see and I learnt things I didn't know.

The Amphicar was a good bit of kit but it dropped out of sight. I found out why. Apparently a large proportion of sales were to the USA and when regulations changed, it killed the sales and the company couldn't survive.

It was ineresting to see one of the first models of TVR in there. How they've changed over the years.

I'm sure there is much that we missed, as the place was crammed with stuff.

We had a short coffee break by the river before heading across the yard to The Campbell Exhibition .

This exhibition, though small in size, was big on information and well worth a visit. The thing that struck me most was the sheer size of these record breaking cars and boats. It's only when you stand next to them do you realise how big they are.

Whilst they were probably state of the art in their day, they are very basic by today's standards.
