This year started for us today with a 60 mile drive in the GT organised by the Middlesbrough & District Motor Club.
After coffee & biscuits at the start we headed off on a bright but chilly morning for what turned out to be a superb route. A good mix of roads from A roads to narrow country lanes took us through some delightful villages to a halfway stop where more coffee & tea was available.
Then it was onwards through some more villages back to the Clubhouse where hot sausage buns awaited us.
The challenging route was made even more interesting by the fact that some of the roads were covered in ice. This made driving fun, especially going downhill. The conditions did deter some entrants from completing the route including one guy on a motorcycle who decided discretion was the better part of valour after taking a low speed tumble on an icy corner. Wise man to decide to head for home.
I did have the dashcam in the car but the usual mix of me and technology meant that it didn't work so no video on this trip.
Middlesbrough Motor Club organise some great events at little cost and are well worth joining for these alone. Membership fees are reasonable too.
